Design and Development of False Ceiling Board Using Polyvinyl Acetate (PVAc) Composite Reinforced with False Banana Fibres and Filled with Sawdust

This work deals with design and development of false ceiling board from polyvinyl-acetate (PVAc) composite reinforced banana fibres filled sawdust. The aim was to develop a light weight good strength performance using raw materials that are fully biodegradable including sawdust, thus solving the problem its disposal. were characterized for tensile strength, elongation, moisture content since these parameters affect properties. Hand lay-up method combined compression molding followed by curing utilised in manufacture composites. optimum proportions identified central software, results 40% binder (PVAc), 20% fibres. mechanical properties developed evaluated terms flexural compressive strength. In addition, physical also density absorption. obtained 12.54 N/mm2, 7.03 5.13 N/mm2.
